In late May 2022, the Oakland City Council voted to place a ballot measure on the November 2022 ballot that will change the City’s current business tax structure from a flat tax to a progressive tax structure. The new structure increases tax rates on Oakland businesses in selected industry categories and gross receipt revenues.

The Chamber Foundation is excited to partner with Community Kitchens, a free meal program created to serve Oakland communities suffering from food insecurity during the Covid-19 crisis, as their fiscal sponsor. Originated by the team at Luka’s Oakland Taproom & Lounge, the program raises funds to purchase low-cost meals from local restaurants for community distribution to unsheltered residents.
